Job description
The Head Waiter assists the Maitre d' Hotel in supervising all Food and Beverage service activities. Responsible for ensuring that the highest quality of service is maintained in the assigned area and that the staff follows the policies and procedures of the company.
- Supervises all Waiters, Junior Waiters, Buffet Stewards and Assistant Buffet Stewards working in the assigned area within the assigned section.
- Oversees staff in all areas assigned by Maitre d' Hotel: ensures all objectives, including passenger satisfaction, are successfully met.
- Assists during Food and Beverage service and takes responsibility for maximizing revenue.
- Oversees that table settings and all equipment are used in the correct way.
- Ensures that the staff is familiar with the content of menus, wine list, and food and wine pairing.
- Responsible for training and motivating staff in Food and Beverage and USPH related issues.
- Reviews the progress of the Waiters and Junior Waiters and assists the Maitre d' Hotel to prepare performance evaluations.
- Assists with any and all other services as requested by the Maitre d' Hotel.
Job Requirements:
- High School, College of Catering/Hotel Management School.
- Ability to speak and write in fluent English.
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of P.O.S. system.
- Excellent knowledge of food, wine and beverage service.
- Previous experience as Maitre d' Hotel on cruise ship with similar high service standards.
- Ability to handle stress.
- Ability to motivate and train staff in quality service.
- Ability to communicate effectively with guests.
- Excellent grooming standards.
Experience in quality establishments and good knowledge of English are essential.
